Most of my life has been spent being afraid. There has been fear of rejection, regret, doing something wrong, judgment and so many other things. Looking back, it's hard to see where it all started, but I know where it ends.
At long last, steps have been taken that will never be able to be unwritten. When I stopped smoking cigarettes, I realized that the power of my destiny lies with me. Somehow, with all of your help, confidence has been raised high enough to put myself out there. Here is a song that I hope you enjoy.
More Than - Original Song by Draven Ames
Only a month ago, nothing in the world could have made me do this. Anxiety is a killer. But who knows how long we have left on this earth? It is time to believe in something, it might as well be myself.
I'm sorry, I can't type anymore... Tears for fears, eh? Anyway, thank you all for your support. You don't know how much of a change that every single one of you has sparked inside of me.
Thank you.

Good on you, Draven. Very well said, and something you should be proud of. Fear is a tough nut to crack; in college I took a public speaking class, and they said pools have shown people are more afraid of speaking in public than of dying. How about that?
Now go do some more good!

Draven-
Well said! Go and put yourself out there- I'm rooting for you with fairy dust and everything!
I'm proud of you, my friend. I could never EVER do anything like this. Like you said, I have been afraid most of my life - of rejection, of failure, of not having opportunities to experience success. I'm petrified of public speaking - the fear every person listening is judging every syllable. My former co-workers could tell some amusing stories of how I used to be the hours leading up to back to school night. I would have sedated myself if I could have. Props to you for stepping outside your comfort zone.
Doesn't fear bread strength, especially when it's overcome, or we move forward in spite of it.
The funny thing is, Draven, we ALL have these fears, but we tend to think we're the only ones. You already know I LOVE your music, and BRAVO on the smoking! I never thought I would let a soul read one word of my writing, but somehow, I have done it. You're right, it's within us, and sometimes we have to dig deep, but the point is , we have to try. Keep going, friend, you have SO much to offer.
I'm so proud of you jumping over your fears like this! And it's wonderful! You continue to inspire and drive me forward to be more creative, more open and in general a better writer and person. <3
Good for you my friend. I never imagines you as someone with fears. You seem so confident in your writing and your posts etc...I'm glad you have been able to overcome these obstacles. That is huge, you should be giving yourself a lot of kudos for it. :)))
Here is another song I put up. http://www.youtube.com/user/dravenames#p/a/u/0/4oAJ6Ui5p2A
That's a really open post. You have my admiration! I can't explain how much a can't bear the idea of public speaking. I have a seminar to lead in a couple of weeks on Judith Butler (a lit academic). More than misrepresenting myself, I fear misinterpreting the essay I have to break down.
But you're right. Sometimes we just have to let go of our hangups and just accept we have strengths and weaknesses but that one of them shouldn't be the fear to find out exactly what they are by being reticent.
Thanks for the inspiration Mr. :)
Think of all the music, books and art that would never have been if some didn't take a chance and put themselves out there. Good for you! Good songs, too.
